Background

Department of Computer Science

Introduction

The Department of Computer Science has steadily expanded its academic offerings to meet the evolving needs of technology education.

• 2012: Computer Skill was introduced at the undergraduate level as a Skill-Based Subject with the approval of Dibrugarh University.

• 2018: A Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) in Web Designing was introduced under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).

• 2019: The college received approval from Dibrugarh University to offer the Diploma in Computer Application (DCA).

• 2022: The Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) was introduced as a regular programme under the approval of Dibrugarh University.

• 2023: Under the National Education Policy (NEP) and the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP), Computer Science was introduced as a Multidisciplinary (Natural Science) subject, offered as both Minor and General Education (GE) courses.

The department is committed to equipping students with essential computing knowledge and practical skills, enabling them to pursue higher education, professional careers, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning in the field of information technology.
